Course Summary
Working in and around electrical components, especially live, has the potential to cause harm if the appropriate measures have not been taken. An arc flash is a sudden release of electrical energy through the air when a high-voltage gap exists and there is a breakdown between conductors.
OSG’s course Arc Flash Awareness focuses specifically on arc flash, the causes, and the necessary requirements for personal protective equipment as outlined in CSA Z462 – Electrical Safety.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Define arc flash
- Identify arc flash hazards
- Discuss causes of arc flash
- Identify methods of prevention for arc flash
- Discuss PPE requirements
Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a wallet card.
