Course Summary
Failure to recognize and control hazards associated with exposure to biological, chemical, and physical agents, has led to an increase in occupational illnesses.
Individuals who train this course must have an understanding of these hazards and the purpose and significance behind the WHMIS system.
Our course is designed to provide instructors with the proper methods to train employees on the fundamental requirements of WHMIS legislation, as well as providing a useful comprehension of the WHMIS system, classes, labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and common health effects.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain how and where WHMIS applies
- Explain the right to know
- List and discuss classes and symbols
- Explain the requirements for supplier and workplace labels
- Discuss Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
- Discuss exposure considerations and controls
Note: This is an awareness course. Additional communication must be provided by the employer with respect to specific chemicals hazards workers may be exposed to.
