Who Needs JHSC Refresher Training?

Why do I need to take JHSC Refresher Training to remain certified?
On March 1, 2016, the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) established new Training Standards for JHSC Certification Training. The new Training Standards include a requirement for people who completed JHSC Certification training to take Refresher Training every three years. Anyone who became certified before March 1, 2016, was certified under the old standards and does not require Refresher Training to remain certified.
Besides being a mandated requirement for many JHSC members, JHSC Refresher Training is a great way to stay up to date on the latest updates to health and safety legislation and to remind yourself of best practices.
What will I learn in JHSC Refresher Training?
This course reviews key concepts from JHSC Part I and Part II Training. You will also learn about updates to legislation, standards, and occupational health and safety best practices. This training is also a great opportunity for certified members to share and discuss best practices.
What if I can’t take Refresher Training within three years?
You may be able to get a one-time exemption. You need to apply for an exemption before your deadline to complete Refresher Training.
What happens if I do not take Refresher Training within three years?
If you do not complete Refresher Training within three years of completing Part II or a previous Refresher course, your certification may be revoked by the CPO. If your certification is revoked, you will have to re-take the entire certification training (Part I and Part II) in order to be re-certified.
